Carrot seed oil, cold pressed (Daucus Carota Sativa Seed Oil)

Carrot seed oil (Daucus Carota Sativa), obtained from carrot seeds, is highly nourishing and soothing. It is a powerful antioxidant that contains high levels of vitamins A, E, and K, making it ideal for caring for mature or sun-damaged skin.

Through the demanding cold-pressing process of carrot seeds, two types of oils are obtained: an essential oil (yield approximately 0.83%) and a fixed oil (yield approximately 7.84%) — the carrot seed oil.
Both seed oils differ in composition, and they also differ significantly from the well-known "carrot oil," which is essentially a basic carrot extract macerated in a carrier oil (usually sunflower or olive oil) and contains the vitamin A precursor, carotene.

Carrot seed oil (fixed oil) is a pleasantly green-coloured emollient vegetable seed oil, rich in fatty acids with moisturising action, such as petroselinic acid (60%) and linoleic acid (12%), while other important constituents include carotol (30%) and daucol (12%), which also provide anti-inflammatory, antifungal, and antioxidant properties.

Carrot essential oil, unlike the fixed carrot seed oil, is light yellow in colour with a rich, earthy scent. It is composed of chemically complex compounds, with its main constituent being carotol (approximately 65%). It also has antifungal and antioxidant properties, but it also contains fragrance components that can be potentially irritating.

Body lotions and butters often contain carrot seed oil, as it helps moisturise and nourish the skin, keeping it soft and smooth while improving its elasticity.
4. Face and body oils
Pure carrot seed oil or oil blends that include it are excellent for face and body massage. They moisturise, soothe, and improve the appearance of the skin.
5. Lip balms
Carrot seed oil is used in lip balms, as it helps keep lips soft, moisturises them, and protects them from drying out.
6. Hair care products
Šampons, conditioners, and hair masks with carrot seed oil help moisturise the scalp, strengthen the hair, and add shine. They can also help reduce hair breakage and improve elasticity.
7. Sunscreens and after-sun products
Due to its ability to protect against UV radiation and regenerate damaged skin, carrot seed oil is used in sunscreens and after-sun skin care products.
8. Ointments and hand creams
The moisturising and regenerative properties of carrot seed oil are also beneficial in ointments and hand creams, where they help treat dry and cracked skin.
