Olive oil BIO - virgin, cold pressed
The history of olive oil production and use dates back to around 4,000 years BC, to the early Minoan culture, and according to some sources even further, as olive oil is said to have been produced in central Turkey as early as around 6,000 BC. In the centuries that followed, olive oil began to be used in Israel, Syria, and Palestine, and with the expansion of Greek colonies, the culture of olive oil reached Italy in the 8th century BC, and then France.
For the skin
Gentle olive oil scrub
You will need:
• 1 tablespoon of olive oil
• 1 tablespoon of vinegar – choose apple cider vinegar, and if you can get homemade, that's the best!
Mix the olive oil and vinegar and apply to the skin with gentle movements, then remove with lukewarm water.
Olive face mask
You will need:
• a few tablespoons of olive oil
• half an avocado
Mash the avocado with a fork and mix in the olive oil until the mixture is smooth. Apply the mask to the face and décolletage and leave on for 15 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water and moisturise the skin with a moisturising cream.
For hair
Olive hair mask
You will need:
• a few tablespoons of olive oil
• one egg
• a few drops of lemon juice
Dry, brittle hair lacking shine will benefit from a mask made of oil, egg, and citric acid. Beat the egg, add the lemon and olive oil. Apply to the hair and wrap in a warm towel, leaving it to act for 30 minutes. Rinse the mixture from the hair with warm water, then wash the hair with shampoo.
The power of olive oil for split ends
You can restore suppleness to dry split ends with olive oil. Drop a few drops into your palm and rub the oil into the ends, wrap your head in a towel and leave to act for at least half an hour. Then rinse the oil from the ends with water and immediately wash with shampoo.
For nails and soft cuticles
Leave 2 decilitres of olive oil at room temperature or place the container near a radiator or heater to warm up. Soak your fingertips in the oil for 15 minutes and your nails will gain incredible strength. You can also approach this differently. Rub olive oil onto your hands (or feet) and put on gloves (or warm socks) – the oil will work overnight and soften the skin and strengthen the nails.
