Natural, refined mango butter (INCI: Mangifera Indica)

Melting point: 31 – 36 ºC

Mango butter is a fairly hard butter and works best in combination with other ingredients in your formulas for creams, balms, soaps, butters, … In composition it is similar to shea and cocoa butter, although it has slightly different percentages of fatty acids from both.

The butter has excellent moisturising properties, and also promotes wound healing and skin regeneration. It soothes the skin, moisturises it, protects it, helps it regain elasticity and reduces the breakdown of skin cells. Mango also has a protective effect against UV radiation. Many dermatologists recommend mango butter in the fight against wrinkles, which it is said to soften within 4–6 weeks.

The butter is packaged in pieces in PE/alu bags or PE containers.

Recipe for Mango & Citrus Body Butter

Ingredients for approx. 100 ml of butter:

· 10g beeswax or jojoba wax

· 25g cocoa butter

· 30g shea butter

· 25g mango butter

· 1 teaspoon (5ml) almond oil

· 1 teaspoon (5ml) vitamin E

· 20 drops of citrus essential oil (we suggest 10 drops of lime, 5 drops of orange and 5 drops of lemon)

Method:

1. Melt the beeswax and the cocoa, shea and mango butters in a double boiler. Leave the melted mixture on low heat for another 20 minutes to prevent the butter from developing a grainy texture as it cools.

2. After 20 minutes, add the almond oil and vitamin E and heat on low heat for a few more minutes.

3. Remove the mixture from the heat and add the essential oils while stirring.

4. The mixture can be cooled in a cold water bath, stirring occasionally with a cream whisk or a wire whisk.

5. Before the mixture solidifies, pour it into the prepared container and allow it to cool completely.

Nourishing butter for dry and damaged hair:

Method:

1. Melt the mango butter in a double boiler over low heat. Once the butter is melted, turn off the heat and stir in the kukui and buriti oils.

2. Allow the mixture to cool for five minutes, then place the container in the refrigerator or freezer for a few minutes, or until the mixture begins to turn light around the edges of the container.

3. Add the remaining ingredients (essential oils and vitamin) and mix well until you get a smooth, spreadable paste.

4. Scrape the butter into the prepared container and store in a dry, dark and cool place.

The butter prepared this way is massaged into dry hair so that it can penetrate the hair fibres. The butter can be left in the hair, or rinsed out with a mild shampoo if desired.
