We use it:

- for depression, in stressful situations, for insomnia, fears,…

- for nervousness, rapid heartbeat, and high blood pressure;

- for skin care, as it regenerates and promotes healing;

- for care of hair ends;

- in natural perfumes.

NOTE: Ylang Ylang essential oil is produced by fractional distillation (step-by-step distillation), which typically takes up to 24 hours, yielding oils of five quality grades: extra, I., II., III., and complete. These fractions are collected separately according to distillation time. The first fraction is »extra« and this oil contains the most sweetness, making it widely used in the perfume industry. This is followed by I., II., and III. The »complete« oil is obtained when distillation runs continuously without interruption.

Special warnings: May cause skin irritation. In excessive amounts it may cause headaches and dizziness. A concentration of up to 0.8% is recommended for skin application. Must not be used on inflamed skin or in cases of dermatitis. Do not use on children under 2 years of age.

Aromatherapy tip with recipe:

Blend for damaged and dry skin

30 ml base oil (can also be unscented cream/lotion)

2 drops EO ylang ylang II

3 drops EO carrot seed

3 drops EO helichrysum

Preparation: Drop the essential oils into a dark 30 ml bottle and rub between your hands (mix well). Add approximately 30 ml of base oil (e.g. jojoba), close tightly, label, and store in a cool and dark place. The essential oils can also be blended into a homemade cream or lotion.

Use: Apply the oil blend to your body (onto damp skin) after stepping out of the shower. If using a lotion or cream, apply it to dry skin. Enjoy the fragrant regeneration :)
