Rosemary BIO essential oil
Latin name: Rosmarinus officinalis
Warning: Rosemary has several chemotypes (1,8-cineole, verbenone, camphor), so be careful which one you use,
as the safety precautions and properties differ greatly!

Extraction method: steam distillation of twigs

Chemotype: 1,8-Cineole
Predominant chemical families: oxides, monoterpenes, ketones
Uses:
- for respiratory issues: expels mucus, aids expectoration, helps with sinus inflammation,
bronchitis…
- for pain and cramps: muscles, stiff joints, menstrual cramps;
- stimulates circulation, digestion and keeps us sharp (concentration and memory);
- for skin care and scars, as it promotes regeneration.
Methods of use: in ointments, massage oils, for inhalations, in shampoos, creams and lotions,…
NOTE: Rosemary essential oil is not suitable for use before bedtime, as it has a stimulating effect. For
this purpose, verbenone is the most suitable of all chemotypes.
Special warnings: If oxidised, it may cause skin irritation. Not suitable for pregnant women (none
of the chemotypes). Do not use near the face of infants or young children.
Allergens: linalool, limonene
Aromatherapy tip with recipe:
Pain-relieving bath salt
3 large tablespoons of unrefined coarsely ground salt
1 drop EO rosemary
1 drop EO juniper
2 drops EO lavender
Preparation: Drop the essential oils into a cup of salt and mix well. The mixture is sufficient for
a single use.
Use: Pour the bath salt into a bathtub filled with hot water. Relax and enjoy for at least 20 minutes.
The mixture helps with pain, tight muscles and has an anti-inflammatory effect.
