Stearic acid

Stearic acid - a natural fatty acid made from vegetable oils. It gently coats the skin with a protective layer and reduces moisture evaporation. It gives structure to cosmetic products, which is why most creams, lotions and fluids contain it.

It is also an excellent addition to homemade hard soaps as it gives them extraordinary hardness and a creamy lather. Only a small amount needs to be added to soap, and good results are achieved with just two percent of stearic acid relative to the weight of the other fats.

The acid comes in the form of solid, waxy micro pearls or flakes.
