Squalane is a derivative of squalene, which is a natural component of human sebum. It is made stable through hydrogenation (squalene oxidizes very easily), and it is obtained from olive oil. It is a dense, oil-like liquid that absorbs quickly into the skin and leaves a silky feeling.

It is an emollient, meaning it softens our skin and improves its structure, while also repairing the disrupted lipid barrier function and preventing skin dehydration. It also helps protect hair by forming a film on it and maintaining hydration.

We use it for dry and dehydrated skin, in massage oils, and in products where we want to accelerate absorption (dry body oils, facial oil serums, etc.). It also works excellently for caring for dry hair ends and as protection against breakage and damage.

We add it to: creams, lotions, dry oils, hair serums, liquid foundations, lipsticks,…

Solubility: oil phase

Usage: 5 to 70% (5-15 in emulsions, 30-70% in dry oils)
