Lavender - BIO essential oil
Latin name: Lavandula angustifolia (older designation L. officinalis or L. vera)
CAUTION: do not confuse with Lavandin (Lavandula x intermedia), which has a very different action
Countries of origin: France, Italy, Bulgaria, England, India (our essential oil comes from Bulgaria)
Method of extraction: steam distillation of flowers (and leaves)
Note and evaporation rate: middle
Cultivation method: ecological
Predominant chemical families: esters, monoterpenols
We use it:
- for stress, anxiety, insomnia, fear, nervous tension;
- for alleviating various types of pain: sore muscles, headaches, rheumatic pain, cramps (colic,
menstrual cramps, digestive issues, spasmodic cough);
- for burns, abrasions, wounds, insect bites;
- for skin care (acne, irritated skin, for everyday care);
- for colds, flu, sinus, ear, and throat inflammation.
Methods of use: in baths, massage oils, creams and lotions, ointments, in inhalations,…
Special warnings: No special warnings (not toxic, does not irritate the skin).
Allergens: Linalool, limonene
Aromatherapy tip with recipe:
Relief for cuts, abrasions, insect bites
1–2 drops EO lavender
Use: Apply 1–2 drops of undiluted* essential oil to the injured area. The EO will disinfect
the wound, act as an anti-inflammatory, relieve pain, and in the case of burns prevent the formation of blisters and
soothe the burning sensation.
*lavender essential oil is one of the two essential oils that can be applied to the skin undiluted
