Polysorbate 80 - emulsifier, stabilizer

Polysorbate 80 is derived from olive oil and is used as an oil-in-water emulsifier/stabiliser and as a dispersing agent that enables the mixing of oils with water (rose water, teas,...). It performs excellently in the making of bath oils (which, thanks to its use, leave no greasy film on the surface of the water), in emulsified scrubs (salt and sugar), and in massage oils that rinse easily from hands and fabrics. It is also used by the food industry, for example as an emulsifier in the preparation of ice cream. The average European and American is said to consume 0.1 g of Polysorbate 80 emulsifier per day.

Polysorbate 80 is in the form of a viscous, amber-coloured oily liquid.

 

Notices: Avoid contact with eyes. Store in a tightly closed container. If it comes into contact with skin, rinse immediately with plenty of water.

First aid: In case of contact, immediately rinse eyes or skin with plenty of water and continue rinsing for at least 15 minutes. If irritation develops or persists, seek medical attention.

Product use: Laboratory reagent. Not for use as an injectable drug.
