Emulsifier and stabilizer for oil-in-water emulsions (INCI: Polysorbate 20)

Product Description

Our emulsifier and stabiliser Polysorbate 20 is produced from coconut oil. It is a non-ionic emulsifier and surfactant in the form of a yellowish, water-soluble liquid. It is used to combine water and oil without the use of alcohols. It dissolves fragrances and blends them with the water phase, and has a soothing effect on the skin. It is used primarily in oil-in-water emulsions such as lotions, balms, creams, shampoos, liquid soaps, body scrubs, etc. It is also used in the production of fabric freshening and scenting sprays.

Polysorbates are typically used in combination with other emulsifiers. Use Polysorbate 20 when excessive lathering in the finished product is not desired.

When using Polysorbate 20, start with a 1:1 ratio. For every gram of essential or fragrance oil, use one gram of Polysorbate 20. Add distilled water to this mixture until you achieve the desired viscosity of the resulting emulsion.

Here are some guidelines: If you are using 60 ml of distilled water, add 5 drops of essential oil for a face spray, add 20 drops of essential oil for a body mist, add 30 drops for a fabric spray, and add 50 drops for a room spray. You can of course adjust the proportions to suit your own taste and preferences.
