Sodium lauryl sulfoacetate - SLSA

Sodium lauryl sulfoacetate (SLSA) is derived from coconut and palm oil and is a safe, skin-friendly surfactant that reduces the surface tension of liquids or the tension between two liquids and between a liquid and a solid. SLSA is primarily intended for strong foaming in detergents, soaps, bath bombs, bath salts, and similar products. This mild, plant-derived surfactant produces a rich and luxurious lather that effectively removes surface oils, dirt, and bacteria, while not drying out sensitive skin. SLSA is also highly hydrophilic (water-attracting), which allows it to dissolve easily in water and rinse even more easily from the skin and surfaces.

Although SLSA sounds similar to the notorious SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate), the two are very different: SLSA has large molecules which, as a result, cannot penetrate the skin and therefore do not irritate it, whereas the SLS molecule is very small and easily penetrates the skin, which can increase the occurrence of skin irritation and dermatitis.

Usage:
0.5 to 3.0% in skin/baby/animal products
2.0 to 10.0% in shower gels/soaps/shampoos
