Corn starch powder

Corn starch is a silky, powdery starch made from corn. Corn starch is widely used in powdery body preparations, cosmetics, bath products, bath bombs, body butters, creams, etc. It will add a silky texture to your products while also helping to soothe the skin. Starch is also safer than talc, especially in products for babies and children. When used in the water base of your formulations, it will also act as a thickening agent.

Recipes:

Simple lavender powder:

• 1 cup arrowroot starch
• 1/4 cup baking soda
• 1/2 cup corn starch
• 3 tablespoons finely ground lavender flowers
• 70 drops lavender essential oil

Refreshing peppermint powder:

• 1 cup (approx. 240ml) corn starch
• 1/4 cup (approx. 60ml) baking soda
• 1/4 cup white clay
• 3 tablespoons (approx. 45ml) finely ground peppermint leaves (or three bags of finely ground peppermint tea)
• 20 drops peppermint essential oil
• 20 drops lemon essential oil

Mix all the dry ingredients together and add the essential oils drop by drop while stirring continuously. Break up any lumps between your fingers. Pour the finished powder into a sealed container and use to dust dry skin after bathing.
