Hydrolyzed collagen (collagen peptides)

Hydrolyzed collagen is a moisturizing, protective, and film-forming active ingredient, indicated for products for dry and mature skin and for hair care.

Collagen is a structural protein that represents the main fibrous element of the skin, tendons, cartilage, and connective tissue of vertebrates, and together with elastin is responsible for the protective function of the skin and the elasticity and tone of tissues. Hydrolyzed collagen is obtained by enzymatic hydrolysis from type 1 collagen, i.e. the type present in human skin and bones. It is essentially a product with shorter peptide chains and a lower molecular weight than natural collagen, and is therefore water-soluble.
Collagen is composed of 18 amino acids, among which glycine, proline, and hydroxyproline predominate; in addition to being a source of amino acids, it is used in cosmetics, often in synergy with elastin, as a protective, film-forming, and moisturizing agent in products for dry and mature skin, and as a substantive and film-forming agent in leave-in hair products.

Use:

Hydrolyzed collagen is added to gels, tonics, emulsions, serums, cleansers, and hair products. That is, in:

• moisturizing and protective face and body products
• anti-aging products
• detergents and shampoos, to soften the aggressiveness of surfactants and make them skin-friendly
• conditioners and leave-in products (sprays or emulsions) for hair with nourishing, volumizing, and protective action. Particularly suitable for curly and wavy hair.

How to use:

Recommended usage percentage: 0.5% to 2%.
Hydrolyzed collagen is water-soluble and must be incorporated into formulations at temperatures below 45°C.
Storage

Store in a cool and dry place, away from sources of light and heat.
