Product Description

Guar gum is obtained by grinding the storage tissue, i.e. the endosperm of the guar bean. The guar plant is a legume grown predominantly in India, which is why 80% of the world's guar gum production comes from there. As an interesting fact, the word guar means cattle feed in Hindi.

Guar gum powder is water-soluble and is used in cosmetics as an emulsifier, thickener, and stabiliser for your formulas. It is an excellent natural addition to your lotions, creams, liquid soaps, shower gels, and shampoos.

Guar gum can be used together with xanthan gum, and is used at between 0.5 and 2% of the final product's weight. When using it, be careful and add it gradually to your products, as adding it too quickly and in too large a quantity can cause everything to clump or gel, which is of course undesirable.

Do not use guar gum in formulas that contain borax or calcium.
