Glycolic acid 70%

Glycolic acid is the simplest AHA acid, naturally occurring in fruits and sugar plants (sugar cane). Thanks to its small molecules, it penetrates the skin very easily, making it the most widely used hydroxy acid in skincare products. Glycolic acid is used primarily as a chemical peel in dermatology and in cosmetics for home use, as its exceptional abilities include smoothing wrinkles and acne scars as well as comprehensively improving skin appearance. It is also used for lightening pigmentation in cases of hyperpigmentation and other skin concerns.

Properties of glycolic acid
Glycolic acid reduces the cohesion between skin cells, thereby preventing the formation of layers of hardened skin. This natural chemical peel also binds large amounts of water to cells, leaving the skin soft and thoroughly moisturised after use.

Recommended dosage:

for daily use 2–5 %
for weekly peeling 10–30%

How to achieve a 35% mixture? Mix 10 ml of glycolic acid and 10 ml of water.

How to achieve a 17.5% mixture? Mix 10 ml of glycolic acid and 20 ml of water.

How to achieve approx. 9% mixture? Mix 10 ml of glycolic acid and 30 ml of water.

Formulation for a basic facial serum:

Ingredients:

2% glycolic acid
90% water
8% vegetable glycerin
Instructions:

In a glass beaker, mix the water and glycolic acid. Stir well.
Add vegetable glycerin to the mixture and stir again.
Transfer the mixture to a sterilised bottle with a dropper or pump.
Label the bottle with the product name and date of manufacture.
Store the serum in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

To use the glycolic acid facial serum, apply a small amount to clean, dry skin using your fingertips. Allow the serum to absorb into the skin before applying moisturiser or other skincare products. It is important to use sun protection during the day when using any product containing glycolic acid, as it can increase sensitivity to the sun.
