Geogard Ultra

INCI: Gluconolactone, Sodium Benzoate

Geogard Ultra is a preservative approved for use in natural cosmetics. It is a synergistic and patented mixture composed of gluconolactone and sodium benzoate. In addition to its proven broad-spectrum activity, wide range of global regulatory approvals, and broad formulation compatibility, it also contributes an additional skin moisturising benefit.

This preservative is unique due to the synergy between the two ingredients, which enables its broad spectrum of efficacy. Organic acids alone are generally too weak to act as a preservative, so they often require a secondary preservative to work optimally. Gluconolactone in this mixture works together with sodium benzoate as an effective preservation booster, by slowly releasing gluconic acid over time (over a longer period) and thus contributing to a broader preservation effect.
