Fractionated coconut oil

INCI: Caprylic / Capric Triglyceride

 

This light, clear and dry oil is used in the making of soaps, creams, lotions, lip balms and massage oils. It is also an excellent base for liquid perfumes as it does not leave the skin feeling greasy and will not leave stains on fabrics. Unlike full coconut oil, fractionated coconut oil remains in a liquid state at all times.

The oil is very stable and has an extremely long shelf life — some suppliers even declare it unlimited. It contains no chemicals or solvents whatsoever. It is an excellent — for some, the best — carrier oil for aromatherapy and massage, as it blends beautifully with essential oils while having virtually no scent or colour of its own. It works well with all essential oils and will not clog pores. For massage, mix one drop of essential oil with five drops of fractionated coconut oil.

The oil is an excellent substitute for almond oil or grapeseed oil if you are concerned about the shelf life of your product or about greasiness.

 

 

Example of use:

 

You will need:

17g sucragel

82g fractionated coconut oil

1g essential oil of your choice

Weigh the sucragel into a small container and slowly add the coconut oil while stirring. Finally, add the essential oil and pour into suitable packaging.

Use: Apply the gel to the face using a cotton pad, avoiding the eye area. Repeat as needed.
