Latin name: Eucalyptus globulus

Note: There are several species of eucalyptus (globulus, radiata, citriodora, smithii, dives), so pay attention to which one you are using, as the chemical composition and effects vary greatly!

Extraction method: steam distillation of leaves

Note and evaporation rate: high to middle

Cultivation method: organic

Uses:

- for respiratory infections accompanied by cough: relieves coughing fits, destroys bacteria, soothes inflammation, acts as an antispasmodic,…

- as prevention during illness season: when in close contact with people who are already sick (at home, at work, in hospital);

- for urinary tract infections and to promote urine excretion;

- for viral infections: flu, herpes, chickenpox,…

- for tight muscles, aches, and headaches.

Methods of use: in ointments, massage oils, for inhalations, in vaporisers/diffusers, in creams and lotions,…

Special warnings: If oxidised, it may cause skin irritation. It may interact with homeopathic remedies. Do not use on children under 10 years of age. Use with caution in cases of asthma.

Aromatherapy tip with recipe:

Blend for sinus headache

30 ml carrier oil

3 drops EO eucalyptus globulus

3 drops EO frankincense boswellia

3 drops EO lavender

1 drop EO peppermint

Preparation: Drop the essential oils into a 30 ml dark glass bottle and roll between your palms (mix well). Add the carrier oil (e.g. jojoba, almond) and store in a cool, dark place.

Use: Massage the oil blend into the forehead, back of the neck, and soles of the feet. Apply several times a day or as needed.
