Latin name: Cinnamomum zeylanicum
Note: Do not confuse with cinnamon leaf, as they have quite different chemical compositions and uses.
Countries of origin: Šri Lanka, India, Indonesia, Madagascar (our oil comes from Šri Lanka)
Extraction method: steam distillation of the bark/rind

We use it:
- for digestive complaints: bacterial and viral infections, relieves cramps, promotes digestion, against
diarrhoea, nausea, and vomiting;
- for colds, flu, and viral illnesses;
- for rheumatic conditions and circulatory disorders.

Special warnings: Highly irritating to the skin, so use at a concentration of max. 0.05%. Can irritate mucous membranes, so use with caution in vaporisers and during inhalations. Do not use in baths. Do not use on infants and children, or during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Do not use if you have skin problems (e.g. dermatitis) or liver disease. This EO must not be used by people with blood clotting disorders or those taking anticoagulant medications, nor before any kind of surgery.
Allergens: eugenol, linalool
Aromatherapy tip with recipe:
Christmas blend for a festive atmosphere
15 drops sweet orange
4 drops EO cinnamon bark
2 drops EO nutmeg
Preparation: Drop the essential oils into a dark 10 ml bottle and roll between your palms (mix well). Store the blend in a cool, dark place.
Use: When you want to conjure a festive atmosphere, drop a few drops of the blend into a vaporiser or diffuser.
WARNING: Use only a few drops of the blend and add more as needed. Too large a quantity could irritate the mucous membranes.
