Origin: freshwater pearl shells
Form: fine white powder
Solubility: insoluble in water and oils

Pearl powder is made from finely ground freshwater pearls, rich in calcium carbonate (CaCO₃) and amino acids. These ingredients help repair the skin and promote its natural radiance. It has been used for thousands of years in traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic cosmetics for brightening, soothing, and regenerating the skin.

The powder acts as a natural light reflector, giving the skin a soft, luminous appearance — a “glow effect” without glitter.

Use in cosmetics

Use in DIY cosmetics

• Masks: mix ½ teaspoon (1.5–2 g) with water or toner, 2–3× per week.

• Cleanser: mix ¼ teaspoon (0.5–1 g) into a cleansing gel, 1–2× per week.

• Cream or serum: mix a mung bean-sized amount (0.3–0.5 g) into the product and apply as usual, without rinsing.

Formulation tip

• As it is insoluble, add it in the final phase as a dispersion in creams, serums, or powders.

• For a better skin feel and even distribution, it can be combined with mica, zinc oxide, titanium dioxide or silk powder.

• For natural mineral creams and powders, it is an excellent alternative to synthetic “soft focus” pigments.

Note

• Suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin.

• Not recommended for inhalation – use a protective mask when working with dry powder.

• Store in a dry, cool place, away from moisture and direct light.
