Colloidal oats (oat silk)

Botanical name: Avena sativa kernel Flour

Colloidal oat flour: a naturally occurring organic powder with cleansing, protective, moisturising, and antipruritic properties. It contains various active ingredients, including beta-glucans (responsible for water-retention functions), phenols, starch, avenacins, saponins, flavonoids, and also vitamin E. A fine, light brown powder. Water soluble. This microfine, milled oat meal is not coarse or abrasive.

It soothes stressed, damaged, and irritated skin. It also helps relieve dry and itchy skin. Colloidal oat flour can be added to warm bath water, which is a home remedy for itchy or dry skin. Oats do not sink due to the colloidal action of the grain particles, which disperse in the water.

Use: In lotions, where it can create a barrier, making it an excellent addition for those with very dry skin. In soap it is often used to relieve itching. Colloidal oat flour is a soothing addition to your favourite recipes. This product is excellent in face masks, milk baths, soaps, and creams.
