Organic peppermint leaf hydrosol with added 0.6% Cosgard.

Origin: USA

Description and action: Obtained by steam distillation of peppermint leaves and flowers. It acts antiseptically, soothes irritation, cools and reduces elevated body temperature. It can be used effectively as a cleansing facial tonic, and on hot days it cools us down as a facial mist or for tired legs. During the summer months it also soothes the effects of excessive sun exposure and sunburn. As an aftershave lotion, it cools irritated skin and soothes minor micro-injuries, while also acting antibacterially.

You can also make an excellent mouthwash that disinfects the oral cavity, freshens it, and prevents gum disease.

Mouthwash: mix 100ml of peppermint hydrosol with half a litre of boiled and cooled water and store in a dark bottle with an airtight closure. Gargle 10–20ml of the mouthwash for at least 30 seconds before spitting it out.

Uses of hydrosols: as an addition to baths, you can use them to make excellent masks with Argiletz cosmetic clay (green, white, red, pink, yellow), where they are used instead of water or tea, for moisturising the face before applying creams, as a tonic that revitalises, refreshes and renews facial skin, you can spray them on instead of perfume, they can be used instead of room fresheners, for scenting bed linen, for aromatherapy instead of or in combination with essential oils,…

Usage tips: Shake before use. Facial cleansing: Dampen a cotton pad with the hydrosol and cleanse the facial skin with circular movements, repeat if necessary. Tonic/facial mist: Spray onto cleansed facial skin before applying moisturiser. Take care to avoid the eyes. Repeat several times a day as needed for refreshment. Face mask: Mix with Argiletz clay and apply to cleansed face. Leave on for 10 – 15 minutes, rinse with water, moisturise skin with hydrosol and apply a moisturising cream or vegetable oil. Bath: Pour some hydrosol into a bathtub filled with water and enjoy its beneficial effects. Hair care: Spray onto freshly washed hair and massage into the scalp. No rinsing required. Storage: Store hydrosols in a dark, cool place, ideally in the refrigerator, as this effectively inhibits the growth of bacteria that may develop over time. After opening, use the hydrosol within six months.
