Glyceryl Stearate SE

Glyceryl stearate (hereinafter GS) is a wax-like substance made from glycerin and stearic acid. It is commonly found in cosmetic products and skin care products such as lotions, creams, and cleansers. GS acts as a lubricant and contributes to softer and smoother skin.

GS is also an excellent emulsifier and contributes to the stability of emulsions. It is often used in combination with another emulsifier.

GS is derived from various vegetable fats, such as palm kernel oil, soybean oil, other vegetable oils,... GS is also produced completely naturally in the human body itself, where it performs the function of protecting the skin against free radicals (which are released due to pollution, cigarette smoke, and radiation). It also protects the skin from losing its moisture.

In skin care products, GS contributes to more effective skin moisturisation, smoothing of fine lines, etc. With GS present in products, the skin will not become cracked and dry.

GS is also used in suncare products, in mascaras (where it prevents clumping), in eyeshadows, in eyeliners, which with GS glide more smoothly, in lip balms, shower gels, shampoos, hair conditioners, etc.

GS is also added to products to prevent them from freezing, and it also eliminates the formation of a surface crust on products such as creams, lotions, or body butters. Products containing GS reduce the feeling of greasiness on the skin.

Use of GS:

Completely dissolve GS in the oil phase of your product (at 60-70 degrees Celsius).

Recommended usage amount of GS: 1 - 6%

Maximum usage amount of GS: 40%
