FERULIC ACID

Ferulic acid is commonly used as a cosmetic ingredient, particularly in skin care products, due to its antioxidant properties. It is often included in formulations with other antioxidants, such as vitamins C and E, to enhance their stability and effectiveness. The combination of ferulic acid with these other antioxidants is believed to provide a synergistic effect in protecting the skin from oxidative stress caused by free radicals.

The use and dosage of ferulic acid in cosmetic formulations may vary depending on the specific product and its purpose. It is important to note, however, that the concentration of ferulic acid in cosmetic products is generally relatively low. Ferulic acid is typically used in concentrations of 0.5% to 1% in skin care formulations.

Ferulic acid is naturally found in the cell walls of plants. It is found in particularly high amounts in the bran of grasses such as rice, wheat, and oats.

FA (Ferulic Acid) – whose primary role is to act as an antioxidant – owes its fame to a 2005 study which discovered that adding 0.5% FA to a 15% vitamin C + 1% vitamin E solution not only stabilizes the highly unstable vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid), but also doubles the photoprotective capabilities of the formula.

The pH of the final product should be 3.5 (max up to 5)
