Emul PR is an effective PEG-free emulsifier for W/O type emulsions. It is extremely gentle on the skin and is derived from glycerin and ricinoleic acid. Testing has shown that it does not irritate even sensitive skin. It can emulsify up to 80% oil phase; emulsions made with it have a lower viscosity – it is used to make lotions and nourishing milks for the body and face. If you want to create more viscous creams, thickeners such as cetyl alcohol, vegetable butters, or waxes need to be added to the formulation. It forms white emulsions that feel very light, nourishing, and moisturizing, yet despite being W/O type they do not leave a greasy or heavy feeling on the skin.

Usage: add to the oil phase; 2-3% for lotions, 3-5% for creams (together with an additional 3-5% thickeners), 10% for oil baths
Heating: Can be heated up to 80°C, can also be used in cold-process emulsion making

Tip: for best stability, heat the oil phase with the emulsifier, and the water phase, to 75-80°C, then pour the water phase into the oil phase and mix with a stick blender. Once the emulsion has formed, stir by hand, and once the emulsion has cooled, briefly blend again with the stick blender. As with all W/O emulsions, it is advisable to also add stabilizers in the form of magnesium or zinc salts (magnesium sulfate, magnesium stearate, zinc sulfate).
