Basil BIO essential oil

Latin name: Ocimum basilicum

Note: Basil has two chemotypes (linalool, methyl chavicol), so be careful which one you use, as the
safety precautions and effects are different!

Countries of origin: Mediterranean, India, USA (our essential oil comes from Spain)

Extraction method: steam distillation of flowers and leaves

Predominant chemical families: monoterpenols, sesquiterpenes, phenols

We use it:

- for digestive problems: nausea, bloating, cramps, constipation, vomiting, also regulates digestion;
- for respiratory problems: opens the airways, soothes coughs, relieves cramps;
- for stress, to eliminate mental fatigue, helps clear the mind and improve focus;
- for headaches and migraines (especially when linked to digestive issues);
- for sore, inflamed, and tired muscles.

Methods of use: in massage oils, for inhalations, in ointments,…

Special warnings: May irritate the skin.

Aromatherapy tip with recipe:

Blend for relieving stress headaches:
2 drops EO basil
4 drops EO lavender
3 drops EO rosewood
3 drops EO Roman chamomile

Preparation: Drop the essential oils into a dark 30 ml bottle and rub between the palms (mix
well). Add approx. 30 ml of a base cold-pressed vegetable oil (e.g. almond,
jojoba), close tightly, label, and store in a cool, dark place.

Use: drop a few drops of the blend into your palm and massage onto the back of the neck and temples
as soon as you feel tension coming on. If you have someone who can massage your back or the soles of your feet, all the
better;)
