Baking soda
Baking soda was known and used as far back as early antiquity for neutralising stomach acid, baking and natural cleaning, as well as for other medicinal purposes. The ancient Egyptians obtained baking soda from lakes in the Natron Valley. Today, baking soda is mainly produced from table salt, where chlorine is replaced by carbonate.
Baking soda is mildly alkaline and therefore binds and neutralises all acids, converting them into neutral salts and carbonic acid. Baking soda is used today in baking – for muffins, pretzels – in the cosmetic and chemical industry, in the production of natural cleaning products, and in medicine, primarily for acidosis – body over-acidification, constipation, gout, burning and heavily sweating feet, as a personal hygiene product, eco spray...
PERSONAL HYGIENE:
Body and foot bath:
Dissolve half a cup (approx. 150g) of baking soda in the bath. For feet, dissolve two tablespoons of baking soda in warm water and soak your feet in it.
Hair:
Add one teaspoon (approx. 5g) of baking soda to your shampoo once a week. Rinse the scalp thoroughly and use a hair conditioner.
KITCHEN:
Washing vegetables and fruit:

Place an open container filled with half a cup (approx. 150g) of baking soda in the refrigerator. Replace the baking soda every three months.
Cleaning the dishwasher:
Sprinkle a handful of baking soda over the dishes or the bottom of the dishwasher to prevent unpleasant odours from forming. Once a month, sprinkle approx. 150g of baking soda in the empty machine and run the rinse programme.
LAUNDRY:
Boosting the effectiveness of liquid detergent:
Add one tablespoon (approx. 25g) of baking soda to the detergent compartment. Baking soda also inhibits the build-up of limescale!
DO NOT USE BAKING SODA WHEN WASHING WOOL OR SILK!
HOME:
Removing odours from carpets and refreshing colours:
Sprinkle baking soda evenly over the carpet and leave it to work for 24 hours. Then vacuum or beat out the baking soda.
Pets:
Sprinkle baking soda on the bottom of the cat litter tray and cover it with cat litter. You can also sprinkle baking soda on your pet's bedding and vacuum or beat it out after at least 30 minutes.
Unpleasant odours:
Place an open container or a cloth bag of baking soda in a shoe or clothing cupboard, in the toilet, cellar, etc. You can also sprinkle baking soda on the bottom of the rubbish bin.
