Viscolid (palm oil-free)

Viscolid is a completely natural oil thickener in the form of a waxy powder. Unlike classic waxes (beeswax, candelilla), it thickens oils into a delicate, soft, creamy structure that is not hard. It melts at approximately 60°C and does not affect the slip of the oil or the feel on the skin. It is made from rapeseed oil, making it completely palm oil-free. It works excellently for making creamy balms, oil cleansing butters, and oil gel balms. It is also suitable for use in emulsions, where it acts as an oil phase thickener and emulsion stabilizer.

Add up to 10% to products, in the oil phase.

DIY recipe for a natural lip balm with Viscolid:

Ingredients:

5 grams beeswax pellets
5 grams virgin coconut oil
5 grams shea butter
5 grams Viscolid 
10-12 drops of your favorite essential oil (optional)

Instructions:

In a double boiler, melt the beeswax, coconut oil, shea butter, and Viscolid over low heat until completely melted.
Remove from heat and stir in the essential oil, if using.
Pour the mixture into small containers or lip balm tubes and allow to cool and solidify.
Once set, your lip balm is ready to use.
Note: This recipe is flexible, so you can adjust the quantities of ingredients to achieve the desired texture and consistency. You can also experiment with different essential oils to create your own unique fragrance.
