Soy lecithin (liquid)
As an emulsifier, lecithin is commonly used in the production of margarine, chocolate, mayonnaise, and certain ice creams, and is known as E 322.
It can also be used for dermatological conditions such as hair loss, nail growth disorders, and skin changes (eczema, psoriasis, neurodermatitis…), where it is combined with unsaturated fatty acids (omega-3 fatty acids) with the addition of vitamins E and beta-carotene.
In cosmetics, lecithin is used in a range of applications, such as in:
- creams
- ointments
- baby oils
- lotions
- lip balms
- shampoos
Lecithin helps soften and moisturise the skin, making it exceptionally suitable especially for dry skin.
In formulations, it is added at a rate of between 0.5 and 3% of the final product weight. If an emulsifying function is desired, it is added at between 3% and 20% of the final product weight.
